The watch glasses are pressed from pure PTFE and used to cover beakers. They have a smooth surface so that nothing sticks or is contaminated. The smooth surface also makes them easy to clean and reuse in another experiment. They are useful during the digestion process when it is important to contain the liquid in the beaker. They can withstand temperatures up to 280°C.
